I am currently completing my PhD in Social Psychology at the University of Waterloo (UW) in Ontario, Canada. My research lies at the intersection of motivation, self-regulation, and decision-making.
My primary line of research with Abby Scholer is investigating how motivational orientations like regulatory focus and regulatory mode can influence whether and how individuals maximize when making decisions. Another line of research with Abby and James Beck examines when and why individuals persist on a goal after experiencing a setback (in distance or speed) on that goal. In addition, I have a sole-author project in which, through the use of simulations, I assess recent techniques developed to correct for publication bias in meta-analysis.
